We stopped in for lunch after reading reviews of their food, particularly the gumbo, since my husband had been craving it. It did not disappoint! Everything was delicious, especially the gumbo. The atmosphere is quintessential Wisconsin sports bar and the staff is super friendly, but the delicious food is the real star.
First time going there. Definitely will go back again. Service was great and food came out fast and hot. The jumbo was amazing! Fries felt like they just came out of the fryer they were still hot! Worth the drive from Racine.
Very lousy, we were refused service from waitress. Made reservations to play bingo and our table and was given away. Spent a lot of money there to play bingo, ate every time, left a good tip. Never again! I would rather travel an hour away than go there would not recommend to anyone.
Having tried Sandlots of Salem for the first time, we found it quite adequate and comfortable. They were short staff for a Monday after Christmas, but called in more staff. They were courteous enough to let us know therefore we could be patient. Our party of 15 came it bits and pieces, so going with the flow, we ordered drinks and food as each came it.
Sandlots is basically a bar and grill, but the food was very good and everyone enjoy the place. The bar takes up most of the restaurant and it was very full of happy people. From what I understand they have bingo and meat raffles, besides supporting baseball teams that play ball in the fields around the restaurant. All in all it turned out to be a fun afternoon.
Last week we enjoyed going to Sandlots of Salem for the first time on a weeknight. We were attending a "traveling thirsty Thursday" happy hour remote appearance by WDRV classic rock radio station djs from Chicago. Loved the Sam Adam's & PBR beer, the free pizza, and friendly staff. Place was packed, & local patrons we got to know very cool too! I hope to come back here again sometime..
Ordered the 2pc broiled cod. It came with a side salad which was delicious. I requested croutons on my salad & they happily obliged. I did feel however the 2pc fish lacked size. They were quite small and after eating my fish and side of tots, I left hungry. All food tasted wonderful, however didn’t satisfy my hunger. One thing that surprised me is being a family restaurant, they had heavy death metal music playing. I found that not to be very appealing. We quickly put $5 in the juke box in order to listen to something a little more calm. I probably will not order the fish again, but instead try a different item off the vast menu
My family had dinner to celebrate a birthday and our whole experience was wonderful. Everyone's food was delicious and incredible. The staff went above and beyond to make sure every person in our party was very well taken care of and truly gave us memories of a great birthday celebration! I can't thank you enough!
We finally stopped here and glad we did, theres a separate bar area and dining area, the bar itself had plenty of seating and looked inviting, we sat in the dining area because we had a one year old with, the waitress was very nice and took our order on her memory and everything was as we asked, she also stopped often enough to see if we needed anything, we both ordered the 3 piece fish from a choice of 2, 3 or 4, it came with souo or a salad which we ordered the salad and it was good, the plate of fish came with cole slaw, tarter, lemons and fries but i believe tater tots were available, everything tasted great and the pieces were so big we both only ate 2 pieces, the atmosphere was very comforting and bathroom was clean, im definitely returning here, the picture is without the salad or cole slaw but gives you an idea of size and breading which i liked
